Roseau takes it to Spoilers
Rams jump out early and cruise
The Grafton-Park River Spoilers headed into the Christmas break Friday night with a 7-1 loss at the hands of the Roseau Rams at the Centennial Center.
The Rams jumped out to a quick 1-0 lead just 3:35 into the game when Brady Castle, scored on a sniper past Spoiler senior goalie Zach Nelson.
That lead held for six minutes, before Rams senior forward Zach Yon scored on a pass from Alex Strand.
Back-to-back penalties on Cody Kingsbury set up perfect scoring chances for the Rams, and on their second power play of the evening, Dylan Mielke took advantage of it.
“We took penalties because of not moving our feet,” Spoiler head coach Scott Peterson said after the loss.
Brit Brouillard looked to attempt a Spoilers comeback, as he scored the lone Spoiler goal at the 5:36 mark of the second period. That made the score 3-1.
Strand put a damper on the Spoiler comeback at 10:19, as he picked up a pass from Austin Hogenson, putting the Rams up again by three goals to make it 4-1.
The third period started off quickly, as Yon notched his second goal of the night at the 19-second mark of the period, on a pass from Cole Bjugson.
Just three minutes later, Bjugson scored chasing goaltender Zach Nelson to the bench. That brought in sophomore goaltender Justin Offutt, who finished off the game, giving up only one goal, a slap shot from the point by Castle at the 4:15 mark.
“We have to put together a full 51 minutes,” coach Peterson said in reference to his team’s performance.
