Grafton challenged by Faith
Dooley dominates inside against Lady Spoilers
The Central Cass Squirrels traveled to Grafton last Saturday and took advantage of the height and talent of senior Faith Dooley, defeating the Spoilers 60-36.
Grafton was led in scoring by Jessica Burns with 10 points and Jaden Hanson with eight. Dooley led Central Cass with 28 points.
Dooley, the 6-3 Central Cass senior was virtually unstoppable for the younger and undersized Grafton girls. The Spoilers tallest girl on the roster is 5-11 sophomore Taylor Skjordal who simply could not physically match up.
The Squirrels dominated play in the first quarter with Dooley scoring 14 points out of her team’s first 20. Down on the Spoilers end, defensively Dooley was just as dominating swatting away shots leaving the Spoilers frustrated offensively. They only managed a single point in the first quarter, that being on a free throw by Jaden Hanson.
The Spoilers were outscored 13-6 in the second quarter and by halftime they entered the locker room down 33-7.
The second half continued much in the same manner as the first. The Spoilers however managed to outscore Central Cass 13-10 in the third quarter with Dooley seeing limited floor time.
Grafton managed to eventually put some points on the board in the fourth quarter with four Spoilers contributing from the 3-point line. Burns, Jillian Hanson, Kelly Holand and Karly Kennelly each made a trey.
The Squirrels however, outscored the Spoilers 17-16 in the final quarter and went home with a 60-36 win.
